Newport – a small town on the river Usk that was transformed by the industrial revolution.
The steel works brought jobs, the canals opened up trade; in one year alone, six million tons of coal left Newport's busy docks.
But times change.
Echoes of it's industrial past remain - but today, the Newport skyline tells a very different story.
In this series, we'll be spending Five Days in Newport and finding out what life is really like in Wales' newest city.
History, heritage & changing times. Restoring the past & building a future - it's all coming up as we spend Five Days in Newport.
