At the head of the Llynfi Valley, just north of Bridgend, lies the
former mining town of Maesteg. For over a century it was a powerhouse
of coal production. The pits are now long gone...but this is a
community still coloured by coal.
Nowadays, the face of Maesteg is being redesigned. But no-one's in a
hurry to forget the past.
From a group of former miners trying to save their industrial
heritage...an opera society bringing the Wild West to Wales...and a
young photographer creating a stir with a striking view of his home
town. This is a snapshot of life after coal.
